Engagement Party Photos

Friday, January 29th, 2010

First off, I want to thank everyone for coming. It just occurred to me as I was uploading the photos that I never sent out official “thank you” cards. Man, I have a lot to learn before the big day gets here. I hope none of you are offended that I failed to send Thank You cards, and I especially hope that you all know just how much Shane and I appreciated you joining us for the party. I was so incredibly out of it that day! It sucked, and I’m very sorry that I may not have been my usual, lively self. I promise I’ll be healthy at the rest of the wedding events! Hopefully we all will be.

Anyway, I have finally uploaded the pictures from the engagement party. These aren’t all of them, but I chose the best ones. If you have any you would like to share, I’d love to see them!

Weather, Directions Update

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Only two days to go!!!! The scrapbook is almost finished, the pumpkins are painted, and I’m about to start baking the desserts and bread. It’s been quite a busy couple weeks, but I’m so ready for Saturday!

Look At The Map

Last weekend we dropped off directions for Shane’s grandparents and I actually took the time to read through them. Boy, am I glad that I did! If you are getting your directions from Google, make sure you look at the map. Take it with you, even. It doesn’t really explain all too well the twists and turns around the lakes around their house. Bing, Yahoo Maps, and Mapquest all take you a completely different way that appears to be accurate. I’m not too familiar with that route, though, so take the map! :)

Weather Forecast

Saturday is supposed to be partly cloudy at 47 degrees. Hopefully the rain dries up from tomorrow’s showers so we can still do the hayrides! If it is still pretty wet on the ground but not raining, we’ll have to take a different route. I’m really looking forward to the bumpy path through the woods that Matt cleared for us, though.

I’d better start baking! I sure have my work cut out for me today! Good thing I love it!

It’s Coming!!!

Nine days and counting until we all get together for the Oktoberfest Party! Last weekend I headed up north to finalize the planning with my sister and mom as much as we could. Until then I was just nervous; I really want it to be relaxed and not really about Shane and me being engaged at all. But now I’m excited, because its going to be so much fun! We got the majority of the planning out of the way, so here’s the latest:

The Menu

Chili
Beef and noodles
Mashed potatoes
Homemade bread platter (pumpkin pie spice, zucchini, and cinnamon)
Veggie platter
Fruit platter
Creamy white hot chocolate
Apple cider
Pumpkin cheesecake bars
Old Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies
Cake

The Events

Since we’re starting at noon, we’ll most likely start with the meal. After that, there might be a “mixer” game, since I want to make sure everyone has a chance to meet everyone else (as that is the point of the event). Then we will have games (board games and card games; bring your favorite one!) and paint and/or decorate small pumpkins and gourds! Hopefully the weather will hold up later next week so we can enjoy the hayrides that Matt has been working on for a few months now. Weather.com currently shows rain showers for the area Thursday-Saturday, but luckily this is Indiana and that might change! Apparently, even if it is clear but has rained recently, the hayrides are a no-go. :( Can anyone teach me the anti-rain dance?

Other Things

Though Weather.com is also saying it will be in the low 60′s, the Wineland’s house tends to get rather chilly in the colder months. You might want to bring a sweater, especially if you’re like me and get cold easily.

Bring your cameras!!! I’ll have mine, and I’m sure my mom and sister will have theirs. But I want as many candid pics as possible. We’ll be adding an album to the site as soon after the party as we can so everyone can enjoy them, so I’ll want copies of any pics you take! :)

No gifts! Seriously. In case you missed it in the invitation, other blog posts, or Engagement Party page, the whole purpose of this thing is to get our families together and have some fun. One of my friends said something about how, even though I keep saying this, people will still bring gifts. And I thought about it, and I’m sure I probably would bring a gift if someone close to me was having an engagement party because I care about them and can’t come empty handed. But if you’re anything like me, resist the urge!

Now that I’m getting my part of the menu together in my grocery list, I’m getting even more excited! I can’t wait until I have a full day of baking next week! Lol. I’m sure that will change once it actually comes.

The Invites Are Out!

Engagement Invite

Some of you received them Saturday, others will today or within the next few days. I’ve gotten so busy this past month or so with work that I’m starting to realize October 17th is going to sneak up on me in no time! I still have much to figure out regarding the menu, decor, and other things. Its going to be a hectic 6 weeks!

Everything you need to know for the party is on the event page. Directions, RSVP, and details of what we’ll be doing are all there. Also, please make note of the “No Gifts” line in the invites. :) I can’t wait for the hayrides! I haven’t been on one since high school, and hopefully no one will be jumping off the ride to go hide in the woods and scare the rest of us (Emily). Lol.

Back to work. I have a Business to Business Expo a week from today, and that is sneaking up on me just as quickly!
