They’re Here!

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

This morning I got a call from the photographer asking for our address so that they can send us the DVD. She also told me that our photos were up on the Client Portal (I had been checking their blog). So before Shane headed to work we sat and flipped through them. When we first went through them, I didn’t like very many of them. But after a second glance, I realized there were more photos that I liked than I had thought. I’ll be adding more to the Photos page, but here are some of my favorites. More will probably be added if Shane has some favorites that I didn’t post. Again, please let us know if you want any prints of these (or the others found on the Photos page). We’ll be printing out at least one photo for the Family Reunion this weekend, and using one for the Save the Date cards. But maybe not your favorite.

The Photo Shoot

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Shane and I just got back from the photo shoot for the engagement photos. Its been so long since I’ve had my picture taken by a professional that I felt like I forgot a lot of stuff. But we had a lot of fun, and I’m sure the pictures will be beautiful. I just looked at Rogue Art’s blog again and realized I wish I had looked at it just before going. There are a few small details about the shots I liked that I didn’t even notice, or at least make note of. The whole time I felt like I should do something to vary the poses, instead of just varying the backdrops, but I didn’t know what to do.

Oh well. They’ll be beautiful all the same, regardless of anything we did or didn’t do. There’s one in particular I’m very excited to see, but its hard to explain. We’re standing in a lawn in front of a beautiful building. We’ll see how it turns out.

There was a wedding going on while we were there shooting. It was an Indian (or some sort of Middle-Eastern) wedding, where the man rode in on a white horse with a beautiful saddle cover thingy on it, and the bride wore a green dress. From what I could see, the altar was a big, bright pink tent-type thing. Gave me a lot of ideas for our wedding. :) Lol. Who says I need to wear white, anyway? I could just pick up a beautiful blue evening gown for a fraction of the price of a “wedding” gown of the same style. Just because its for a “wedding” makes it tons more expensive. Actually, I might just wear the blue dress I’ve been eying for my sister instead, and she and the bridesmaids can all wear green. Lol.

I doubt I’ll do that. But its an idea. :)

We should have the pictures back by Thursday at the latest. They might post a blog with them sooner, so I’ll probably just copy some of them for the web from there. Shane is trying to nap before his fishing tournament tonight. I’m thinking of heading over to Archiver’s (a newly discovered heaven of the scrapbooking/paper craft sorts for me) and check out some of their pocket envelopes for invites. Since I’ve discovered my printer can print on paper that is supposedly impossible to print on (thank you again, baby, for the best birthday present ever!), I’m just trying to decide how to use it. I have a ton of it that I would never have used had my printer not worked with it. (Too expensive to get printers to use.)

Anyway, expect some pictures sometime soon.

Engagement Photos

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I recently wrote about finding a wonderful photography duo, Rogue Art Photography. We just set the date for our engagement photos for July 18th. She sent me some information regarding prices for the wedding and reminded me to check their blog for more photos than what is in the gallery. And am I so glad that I did!

As you might have noticed from the top left corner of this site, the theme for the wedding is “Modern Fairytale”. Its a rather loose-fitting theme, as this is probably the only place that it will be declared. I’m mostly using it as part of what guides the mood. I decided on this because of the scrapbook that we’ve started and will be displaying at the wedding and any events leading up to it. It looks like an old fairytale book with “Once Upon A Time” on the front and “Happily Ever After” on the back. I’d been wanting to get a picture of Shane and I that somewhat fit the renaissance/fairytale theme but I had no clue how to do it without being overly cheesy. And then I saw this:

I must say, I rather love Rogue Art already. :) I’m waiting to hear back about where this was taken. We’ve set our location for the engagement photos for the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The same couple has at least one from there, so I’m hoping that my luck prevails and we can have a photo of similar caliber to add to our scrapbook, among other things.
