Our Story
A Match Made in Cyber-Heaven
How We Met

Shane and I met on eHarmony–something I personally swore I’d never do at one point in time. But, we were both at the end of our rope. I was convinced there was no one out there for me, and just to prove it I joined eHarmony. I was on there less than a week when he sent me a message.
After going through the questions and quizzes eHarmony has, we started emailing back and forth. We quickly reached over 100 emails within the first week. The one email I will always remember is when we discussed our favorite colors and flowers. Our favorite colors, in the exact same order, are blue, green, and silver. My favorite flower is a white oriental lily and his is a stargazer lily. After two weeks of emailing, Shane called while I was grocery shopping. I called him back when I got home and we talked for about 30-45 minutes.
On October 1st, 2008, Shane and I met for lunch at Bella’s Pizza (which I consider to be our first date). The following Sunday, we went to Fast Times and then to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat, play pool, and watch the Colts game (which Shane considers to be our first date). While at BW’s I told Shane I didn’t realize there was a Colts game on that day and he mentioned that his dad usually comes over to watch it with him. Though I told him that we could have gone out another day, it meant a lot that he would rather hang out with me.
A Trip to Cataract Falls
How He Proposed

We’d known since very early on in the relationship that we both saw this going somewhere. We’d talked about marriage before and even glanced at rings a few times. Around Memorial Day we started talking about it again, he started looking at rings online and we went to go check them out in the stores. I found one I kind of liked, but I was more excited about just having any ring. I have so many different tastes, I didn’t really expect to find a ring I truly loved anyway.
Then Shane’s dad, Steve, told Shane about his cousin’s husband’s jewelry store in Beech Grove. We drove over there on Tuesday, June 2, and found one that I really liked. With one alteration, I knew it could be something I loved. We got a price and headed home. The next few days I was pretty anxious. Shane kept unintentionally dropping hints and I knew it was coming sometime soon.
Sure enough, Thursday (just a few days later) he came home a bit early and said he was thinking about taking me somewhere but had to wait for a phone call. He said he wanted to go take pictures of a waterfall, but wouldn’t tell me where. I was really, really anxious so I had to clean just to keep myself occupied. We finally left for Cataract Falls, picked up some Arby’s and had a picnic dinner right by the falls. We walked around and took pictures, then sat down on some rocks. He started telling me how much he loved me. I started hugging and kissing him just because what he said was so sweet. He said he wasn’t done yet, but I made him forget what he was going to say so he got out the ring, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him!!!
